Here is a really neat kids desk chair from probably the 1950s/60s called the Envoy and made by the American Seating Company of Grand Rapids, MI. The wonderful thing about the chair is of course the Mickey Mouse painting which appears to have been done by quite a good artist. The colors are still strong and vibrant and the depiction of Mickey is very old world and classic---the kind of Mickey we remember from the days of Technicolor in the 1950s. I also believe the metal frame was painted red which goes much better with Mickey than the original bland taupe. The chair definitely has seen plenty of action as it's been marked, scratched and beaten up plenty for its age. But still it has a wonderful patina, and the vibrancy of Mickey Mouse smiling and in stride is about as charming as it gets. It's a wonderful piece of Americana and definitely a throwback to a bygone era. Thanks for looking.
