Handsome original StavOak dining table or game table and
glass top with four (4) chairs designed by Jobie G. Redmond and made from Jack
Daniels’ barrel staves. This set is in wonderful condition. The wood has been
completely restored by our experienced staff. But, although we have
professionally cleaned the upholstered seats, they do have some flaws and you
most likely will want to recover. Plus, we just discovered a small chip in the
edge of the glass top. Please see photos. Circa 1981.

Wow! We were completely smitten with this table and chair set the minute we saw it. It has a wonderful combination of modern design and rustic with touches of Adirondack. It was designed in 1978 by Jobie G. Redmond of High Point, North Carolina, whose family background was in furniture making, and made using Jack Daniels’ used barrel staves. Redmond was hired to do so by Jack Daniels Distillery. These first pieces were presented at High Point North Carolina furniture market in the Spring of 1979 and ready for the retail market in 1981. They were marketed as StavOak. The table base bears the barrel shaped brass tag. The chairs are not marked but research show them to be the same maker. Later, similar pieces were made by Davis Furniture Company and called Jack Daniels No. 7. The table base is comprised of an octagon picture frame style top that is connected to a larger octagon picture frame style base by nine barrel staves which run from top to bottom, three staves each on four sides of the table. It is topped by an octagon piece of glass. Simple yet striking and sturdy. The back of the chairs somehow reminds me of a garden trellis. It is attached to a beautiful barrel stave frame including arms, and an upholstered seat. All the wood has a dark applied stain to the gorgeous oak and a hand rubbed look to the finish. This table and chair set would be perfect in your modern country or mountain home and equally as nice in your industrial loft. Or in your bar area, rec room, or man cave no matter your style. You need to make it yours!
