The buttons controls the headrest, footrest, recliner, and lights the cupholder. This cupholder has a 5 pin male plug to connect to the footrest motor, 2 pin female plug to connect to the cupholder, 1 pin female plug to connect to the headrest. For a sofa/loveseat you must replace both 5-button cupholders so both sides are matching. For a single recliner/lift chair, you must replace the 5 button cupholder and the axillary one or the light will not work.
