Char Busse was an multi-talented artist, vocalist and songwriter, the "Char" of "Char's Silver Treasures", and (most importantly) my sweetie.  We were good friends for 30 years, and were together for the last 16 of those 30.  I lost her to ovarian cancer in 2012.  Char was incredibly prolific as an artist, and thought of her pieces as 'her babies', and thus tended to hang onto them.  We did do quite a few shows, and sold many of her pieces over the years, but there is still a substantial collection of her original pieces available, ranging from tiny framed sketches and pocket altars to huge canvases.  When I moved from Austin, TX to California two years ago, I brought every single piece she ever made with me, as well as the cards and prints we had made from her original works. I wanted to begin offering some of her original works, as well as prints and cards, here on Pricetronic.  I think she would approve.

This particular listing is for one of the series of mixed media pieces she did around one of her favorite subjects, those wonderful metal lawnchairs from the '50s and '60s.  She did a series of large-scale paintings of them, based on photographs she'd taken back in the mid-late '70s and early '80s, and she revisited the theme every time she found a new inspiration.
For this particular piece, she actually cut up a Polaroid photo of a chair we had sitting on our deck.  She was chuckling as she made this and I asked her what was so funny, and she just looked at me and grinned and said "Lawn Chairs In Bondage!"
The frames always seemed to match the pieces, no matter what they were...I was in charge of scouting for frames, and I always seemed to find one that fit the piece well, no matter what it was; we made a good team.  The green in this one matches the green in that chair rather well.
The details for this piece came from a hand-written sheet she put in the tub we stored this particular group of framed pieces in.   She made this piece in 2009, and it is signed with her usual "CB" in the bottom right corner.
