Belonged to my dad. NOT AN EXPERT, but from my research I'm pretty sure this is a very early design nicknamed the "Ankle Breaker" Base. This was not made for long. Not sure if it was the experimental base or not. Find more info here: https://eames.com/en/articles/shellgenerations
